phonon4qt5-backend-vlc software package provides Phonon4Qt5 VLC backend, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install phonon4qt5-backend-vlc
phonon4qt5-backend-vlc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the phonon4qt5-backend-vlc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep phonon4qt5-backend-vlc *
You will get with phonon4qt5-backend-vlc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
